Last week I was dreading the long weekend, I'm not gonna lie. We planned this camping trip with 2 other couples and some friends, only a little over an hour away at The Ovens Park in Lunenburg NS but still a lot of work to get everything together and organized and lets face it, I'm a complete city chick. So sleeping in a tent, with no showers and lots of bugs did not sound like the way I wanted to spend my last weekend of Summer. Boy was I wrong! The campground was amazing! We had the greatest group of people, delicious food, and the most relaxing weekend. When I came back and was talking to a friend she said "Camping is good for the soul!" Couldn't have said it better myself, I feel completely rejuvenated!
So before we went camping our modem crapped out (hence my blogging absence) so I was a little bored. I decided to make a little treat for our fellow campers, thinking of Bestie Ash, I went straight to the healthy cookbook. (Company's Coming: Kids Healthy Cooking) My mom gave me this cookbook for Charlee, all the recipes in it are great for kids, and the book is broken down into recipes to help with different health issues (ie. low fat foods for your heart, vitamin A & C for your skin and hair, etc.) Its extremely educating, even for me!

{Old Fashioned} Lemon Loaf
So on the weekend we had a Lemon Themed Bridal Shower, complete with lemon centerpiece. So what happens when the party is over and the centerpiece is dis-assembled? You make Lemonade and Lemon Loaf of course! After the party we shared out the lemons, because there was a lot! We all drink water with lemon, but you can only have so much lemon sliced for water before it dries out. So I called up my Mom and got her Lemon Loaf recipe, which is actually my Great Grandmothers recipe. Another recipe to add to the Old Fashioned Recipes I've been sharing. Whats the point of a great recipe if you can't share with others?

Pucker Up!
In approximately 5 weeks my Bestie, Ash, will Marry her High school Sweetheart. My husband, my daughter and I are all very excited to be a part of their Wedding Party. Its gonna be a tyymme, for sure!
For the past month or so I've been working with her MOH to plan a surprise Bridal Shower for our Bride to Be. For weeks before that I was searching every party site, and facebook page for different ideas for a shower. Ash has has been a part of pretty much every party I've done so I wanted it to be a little bit different for her, not a regular Wedding Colors Shower. Anyway so I came across a blog one day called Piggy Bank Parties, let me just say...AMAZING! All of her Parties and ideas are just unreal! So I came across this Bridal Shower that was called "Pucker Up For Your Sweetie". It was chosen as a runner up in a party contest, just goes to show how amazing she is. The best thing about this site is how she gives you the party budget for each party and breaks it down for you, so you don't break the "Piggy" Bank.

Enchanted Cupcake {GIVEAWAY}
Well Hello Everyone! Its been a little while since I've done a post, but I'm back!! I've just hit 100 fans on Facebook, and almost at 150 followers on Twitter. So what better time to do an extra special Giveaway here on Bre Entertains.
This artist has a very special place in my heart and always has! Growing up she was like a Big Sister to me, I always looked up to her! Still do! She's incredibly talented, I have multiple prints of her artwork in my home and I'm so happy to be able to share her newest artistic adventure with all of you.
Entrance 2 Enchantment is fantasy artist Gina Gammon's latest adventure. Gina has been a fantasy artist for about 5 years, but has been drawing since she was a little girl. Her watercolor paintings include mermaids, fairies and vampires!
"Since starting my own garden, I've been on the lookout for fairy doors, and found that there were none to buy local (not even many online Canadian sellers), so I decided that I would try to make my own. Finding a new love in woodworking, I couldn't just make one.. so thus 'Entrance 2 Enchantment' was born. I was inspired by Bre Entertains to make a cupcake door, her cupcakes are so cute and delicious, I thought they'd make the perfect fairy door..what fairy wouldn't want to go through a cupcake?"

About the cupcake door - this door is different from the other doors from "Entrance 2 Enchantment".. not only because it is a cupcake.. it's also a 'inside only' door. This door is thinner and more decorated than the outside doors that I make. It is sealed with an indoor sealant, and has many tiny embellishments that would easily come off in harsh weather. This door is perfect for your kitchen, or as a shelf decoration in your little girl's room!
So there you have it! Get entering and don't forget to tell your friends and neighbors. Share, tweet and yell about the newest Bre Entertains and Entrance 2 Enchantment Giveaway.
Be sure to check out her etsy shop to check out all her other Fairy Doors. You can also check out her other fabulous artwork at http://www.ginagammon.com/. I'm not sure how she does it all, but you have to check her out.

Wordless Wednesday--
Wednesday Already!? 3 days left before the Art vs Craft, 3 days to get ready. I still have yet to find a purple table cloth, I may have to take matters into my own hands and create something. This week I had a mini vacation at Mom and Dad's, and it was SUNNY! First time in 2 years I think that everyday we were home it was sunny and could be outside. Very Nice. If your in Halifax Saturday stop by the forum between 11 and 6 and say "hi!" and sample Bre's Cupcakes. Now to head back to the city and bake my butt off!
But first my WW...
Charlee's 4th Birthday was on Aug 5th, she so badly wanted the "Ice Cream Maker that makes real Ice Cream". So that is what we got her....apparently we also got her a car. Even at 4 the box is better.

The Cookie with 100 Names
Ok here's another long lost, "old fashioned" recipe for ya! For some reason the pouring rain here in Halifax reminded me of these cookies. I don't think its really an Old Fashioned recipe but they've been around FOREVER and I used to make them with my mom when I was just a wee one. So they are Old Fashioned to me.
Whether you call them Spider Cookies {how they were known in our house}, Haystacks, Chocolate Macaroons, or Frogs these cookies are always good! and so so easy! I whipped these up while Tyler and Charlee were putting together her Hungry Hungry Hippos Game and had the first game. We all played a few games while they were cooling, then sat down with Milk and Spider Cookies. Made for a great family evening. So lets get to it shall we, the recipe!
